Student Update

Win-Build-Send: that is the mission of Cru. This summer one of our University of Nebraska-Omaha students took a step of faith and allowed the Lord to send her to Anchorage, Alaska on a Summer Project. In her own words, here is a picture of her experience thus far:

Shelby“Anchorage is so broken. While sharing with students on campus I didn’t meet a single Christian. This is a city with one of the highest suicide and drinking rates in the nation. God is at work here; He simply needs servants willing to devote theirs lives to this beautiful city. The biggest challenge this summer has been realizing how broken I am and how much more I need to surrender my life to Christ. I thought I had everything figured out, but it’s clear that I do not. I am so excited to grow in my faith and continue to do God’s will. This trip has taught me the value of doing life in community and that I need to do more on my campus back home. I have so much love and hope for Cru and I know I can take what I’ve learned here and directly apply it to my broken community back home.”

Family Update

As many of you know, Alexis has been in Kansas since last Fall due to her extreme behaviors while in our home. The plan when she left was for her to get intensive help and return to Omaha. However, she has not been doing well over the past 10 months. After lots of prayer and counsel, Lee and I have decided that Alexis will not return to our home, nor will we move forward adopting her. It was a very difficult, painful decision but Alexis needs a lot of help and bringing her back to Omaha would not be in her best interest, nor the rest of our family. Lee and I will continue to fight (and pray) for Alexis and push Kansas to get her the help she needs. We will also continue to prioritize contact between her and her siblings. If you would join us in praying, however the Spirit leads you, for Alexis, Isaiah and Nevaeh we would greatly appreciate it.
