South Asians share the Gospel:

In December 2020, I (Chelsea) was able to be part of a virtual JFP App Training using short films with partners in a closed country in South Asia. This country is primarily Buddhist and Hindu with less than 1% of the population that identifies as Christian. While COVID has halted travel for the time being, it is difficult to get into this country with or without a global pandemic.

I sat in our home office (slash guest room, storage room, playroom) with 10 South Asian people literally halfway around the world, eagerly anticipating the opportunity to be trained how to engage in Gospel conversations with their friends and family using media. It was a powerful experience to say the least.

Over the course of 2 hours, we took time to remind the attendees of why we take the initiative to engage in conversations with others and trust the Lord for opportunities to share the Gospel.

“Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matt. 28:18-20

We then shared several JFP short films with them, including La Liberte which can be found on the JFP App. We engaged them with questions about the films inviting them to reflect on their daily need for Christ, as well as make connections between their personal testimony and themes in the films.

Fast forward one week, it’s 8:00am and I am sitting once again in our multi-purpose office looking at a screen of beaming faces 11 hours ahead of me. Our time opened in prayer, then I listened. For over an hour, I listened to stories of how God used these faithful, obedient individuals to share the Gospel. They were honest and vulnerable about their fears and insecurities as they stepped out in faith (which we can all relate to). And yet they stepped out. As a result of their faith, 10 people viewed a JFP short film, 5 Gospel conversations occurred as a result, and there were TWO decisions for Christ. Two people accepted the invitation to surrender their lives to Jesus and will now spend eternity in heaven!
