It was seven thirty at night, cold and rainy. The perfect evening to stay inside cuddled up under a blanket watching Netflix. However, six Cru students took the opportunity to set their comfort aside, take a step of faith and engage in conversations with fellow UNO students using Soularium (Cru evangelistic tool) to guide their conversations. For all six students, this was their first time doing any sort of initiative evangelism. They were nervous, scared, and excited.
Here’s how one student, Megan, described her experience:
“We split up into three groups and went out to find people sitting around waiting for class or doing homework. Finding people to talk to was difficult, and the conversation my group had was good. It was difficult to dig deeper because the guys we talked to were rushing back to their class. As a leader, I had fear of not being able to show others how cool Soularium is due to being shot down or denied. We were denied a lot that night, actually. But when it happened, it wasn’t bad and we all just moved on together. All three groups got to talk to at least one person and we had a good time together as students of Cru.”
While the evening didn’t result in anyone placing their faith in Jesus, it did broaden the hearts of Cru students and they are all willing to do Solarium on campus again. They want to see lost students meet Jesus and one less-than-ideal evening isn’t going to stop them! We’re so proud of them! Way to go!!
