She was an atheist, a skeptic of all things Jesus. She was a first year transfer student to UNO and agreed to attend a Cru weekly meeting with her roommate. Four years later, she’s given her life to Jesus, invested one summer on the Walt Disney World Summer Mission, shared her faith with a drunk agnostic on a bus in Russia, has and continues to participate in active discipleship to deepen her walk with Jesus, and is currently in England finishing her Master’s degree. You may remember Megan from a previous prayer letter, but we wanted to highlight her once more. For part of her degree, she’s doing a short term internship with Cru (called Agape in the UK) and the new partnership they’ve formed with GAiN– Global Aid Network (Cru’s humanitarian aid ministry). In her own words, here is what she is doing in England:
“I help with some of the preparations for GAiN’s official launch party in May and work on details for the summer mission to Romania– I’ll be participating in that in June. We also had a mini mission recently in a predominantly Muslim, Hindi, & Sikh area of Birmingham working with local churches.”
Not only is Megan serving with Cru through an internship, but she was very proactive and intentional about getting connected and plugging into Christian community as soon as she arrived in England.
“I landed on a Wednesday and went to a Cru meeting the following day. The focus is very relational. It’s open to students from all backgrounds and provides a community for people to come together, learn from each other and “discuss life’s big questions.” The demographics of our group are about 1/3 Christian, 1/3 Muslim, 1/3 atheist/agnostic. So, the focus is more to build up relationship and community and express God’s love through this.”
We are so proud of Megan. It’s been a privilege to watch God work in her life, change her heart, and deepen her faith and trust in Him. Megan is (literally) being SENT from the campus to the world as a life-long Christ follower!!
