I (Chelsea) met with Abbie (on right) this past week and asked her, “What has God been doing in your life this semester?” She began to share how prayer has played a major role in her relationship with Jesus, specifically how God has used prayer to reveal more of Himself and His heart to Abbie.
Abbie co-leads a women’s Community Group at UNO. Earlier this semester Abbie was praying for “lots of women to come” each week. As the semester went on attendance began to dwindle and Abbie was left feeling discouraged and frustrated with the Lord for not answering her prayers. Isn’t it a good thing to have lots of women attend Bible study? Why was God not answering her prayer? One morning, as Abbie was spending time with the Lord, the Holy Spirit spoke to her revealing God’s heart. “God doesn’t care about numbers. He cares about lives being transformed. I wanted lots of girls to come to community group because I would feel better about myself. God wants more for me and for them. God changed my heart through prayer.”
It’s so encouraging to hear how God is working and transforming Abbie’s heart as she strives to walk intimately with Jesus.
