On September 30th, we packed up our bags and headed to Timberlake Ranch Camp, along with 30 Cru students from across the Omaha metro area to participate in Fall Getaway.  The weekend was rich with fellowship, food, and, of course, Husker football.  But the purpose of the weekend was to dig into God’s word and begin to unpack what it means to be “Souled Out” for Jesus.  I (Chelsea) spoke during  women’s time and challenged the women to identify the idols in their lives that are taking the place of Christ.  One young lady came up to me afterwards and said, “You know, my biggest idol is my family.  When you asked the question, ’What is it that you couldn’t live without?’ my first thought was my family.  I choose them over Jesus often.”  Thankfully, this young lady attends one of the colleges in Omaha and I have been able to engage with her more regarding the issue of idols.  Helping students see the danger they are in when they take a good thing and elevate it to the position of a god thing can be challenging, but once they begin to experience the satisfaction and peace that comes with keeping Jesus in His rightful place growth begins to happen.
