Fall Getaway is a big deal for us. Its where many of the students we have met, poured our lives into, trained, and cast vision to will decide whether or not they are going to “do Cru”. It’s where the tenuous relationships Freshman have with each other get cemented. And its where God meets with our students in a powerful way. This year for our statewide Fall Getaway we had 182 students come, including 12 from UNO. Despite the outdoor venue over a chilly weekend, it was a big win for us!
Our speaker, Justin, opened up Friday night with a question: what’s the difference between experiencing something and really, really experiencing something? How does it feel to look at a picture of the Grand Canyon versus standing on the edge of it and having your breath taken away by its’ majesty? For a big group of Midwestern students the parallel to their relationship with God was crystal clear. Have they experienced God culturally and intellectually, or really, really experienced Him? It was a blessing to process with our students as Justin unpacked his theme the rest of the weekend.
