Each year UNO students partner with other Christian ministries on campus and host JAW: Jesus Awareness Week. The goal of this outreach is to use Easter as a means to get students thinking about Jesus. Who is He? Why did He come and die? How can I know Him?

There is an event each day of the week leading up to Easter; cook-outs, gatherings, tables set up in the Student Center, etc. The main event this year was “Faith and Football w/ Husker Prince Amukamara.” Joining him were fellow players Marcus Mendoza and Will Henry.

Prince met a Campus Crusade staff member his freshman year of college at UNL and began getting together with him to learn more about Jesus. Within a short time Prince gave his life to Christ. Prince is a potential first round draft pick for the NFL, so he receives a lot of attention from the media and especially from girls on campus.

Prince told our students that he is a virgin and plans on remaining a virgin until marriage, which was a big surprise to the over 300 students in attendance. Prince, Will, and Marcus talked openly about what their faith looks like on the football field, their failures, and their desire to live their lives dedicated to Christ.

These young men are obviously impacting their campus for Christ, but our goal is for these men to take the message of Jesus and the training they have received through Campus Crusade for Christ and use it for a lifetime of ministry. We look forward to hearing how their ministry changes the lives of professional athletes.
