weekly meetingOn August 22nd, we hit the ground running. Classes commenced at the University of Nebraska-Omaha and our focus and prayer was to begin building as many relationships as possible, especially with freshmen. Here are several stories of how God showed up over the past couple weeks.

While at a dorm block party, we met two international students from China. They were very friendly and eager to talk with Americans. I (Chelsea) asked the girl if I could have her phone number and if we could hang out sometime. Her response, “You are the first American to talk to me and the first to ask for my number. Thank-you.”

Lee met Sam (a Christian) when our staff team helped students move into the dorms (see picture below). Sam confessed the temptation he was facing to “take a vacation” from Jesus during college.

I met with a young lady from Albania to share more about Cru and how she could get involved. During our conversation she asked, “Is there anyone who could disciple me and help me understand more about Jesus?” She asked to be discipled, how cool is that?!

The first Cru meeting of the year (see picture above) was a huge success. Forty students—over half were freshmen—showed up to learn more about Cru. We’ve follow-up with several of the students who came to the first meeting and all of them are excited to get involved with Cru. Even better, we know of at least two students, who aren’t Christians, who came to the meeting and plan to get involved with one of the four Bible studies around campus.

We are so thankful for all the ways God has proven faithful as we kick off the school year. We anxiously look forward to what He has planned for Cru this year and wait in expectation to see lives changed for eternity as students experience the transforming power of Christ in their lives. We look forward to sharing even more stories with you!
