Below is a story from one of our students on the Walt Disney World Summer Project (WDW SP). We are so encouraged to hear what God has been doing since staff left on July 7th. Our students are taking steps of faith, initiating conversations, building relationships with their co-workers, and trusting God to engage in gospel-centered conversations with them.
“The first girl I want to tell you about is Carol. She is from Shanghi, China. I invited her to our mid-project banquet. During the banquet we shared testimonies, celebrated what God had been doing, shared prayer requests, and our director gave a short talk at the end. As we were driving home after the banquet, I asked Carol if she had any questions I could answer for her. She said, “Yes, yes I want to know more about the Bible and what your director was talking about.” I was super excited! Carol also said, “I like being with you all. I feel so much love and I like the feeling I get when I am around you all.” This really got me excited because she is able to experience God’s love in our group and our actions of reaching out to her. Carol came to church with us the following Sunday (and also agreed to go to Clearwater Beach with us after church). During the service we took communion. Carol didn’t understand what or why we were doing this, but I told her I’d explain later. After church I made lunch for Carol at my condo and knowing we had a 2 1/2 hour drive ahead of us, I brought the Jesus Story Book Bible to read myself. On our way to the beach, Carol wanted to understand why we ate bread and drank grape juice. I had no idea how to explain it, but I remembered the story of the last supper in the story book Bible that I had brought with me. So, I opened it and read that story to Carol. After reading the story she said, “Keep reading. I want to understand more.” So, I read the story of the last supper, Garden of Gethsemane, the crucifixion, the resurrection, Jesus sending out his disciples, and Jesus sending the Holy Spirit. I read the entire way to the beach! I was able to share with Carol that we can only get to heaven and have a relationship with God through accepting what Christ had done for us and believing and receiving Him. To my knowledge, Carol has not yet given her life to Christ. But, I want you to know that God is working and using us to share Christ with our co-workers. Please pray for God to continue to move and touch Carol’s heart.”
