I (Lee) leave this Friday for South Asia! For security purposes we can’t use the actual country name (I let it slip last month – whoops), but this country has VERY tall mountains if that helps. 🙂 I will be there for 2 weeks with Jesus Film Mission Trips. Our Mission Trips team sends out 40 trips per year from Orlando, and we typically only send teams to places with 0% to 5% Christians.

While I am there we will do a variety of outreaches. Out in a remote, hard to access village we will do traditional, outdoor, large group showings of the JESUS film in the local tribal language. Of the 60 people groups in this country, Jesus Film Project has the gospel on film in the heart language of 40 people groups so far. Most of the people we will meet in this village have NEVER heard of Jesus. To see a 5 minute video by a Kansas pastor who recently took a trip super close to where I will be, please watch the video here.

While we are in the major city of the country, our primary evangelism tool will be the Jesus Film Project smartphone app. My trip leaders have created a playlist of short films as well as clips from the JESUS film (translated into the local language), plus a few films with no dialogue. In their trips to this country they have found these films to be very effective in starting spiritual conversations.

But, crazy as it sounds, most people have smartphones, even out in the remote villages. So we will spend time training local staff and pastors on digital strategies for evangelism and discipleship. Praise the Lord for technology!
