liver evilOver 15,000 students flooded the sidewalks, lecture halls, and student center on August 25th as classes at the University of Nebraska-Omaha resumed for the fall semester.  This time of year is especially busy as Cru student leaders and staff work hard to meet new students, build relationships with them, and invite them to Cru events.  All the while trusting God for an opportunity to share the Gospel.  It’s an exciting, high momentum, high energy time of the semester.  In the midst of everything going on– small groups, weekly meeting, Buffalo Wild Wings, following up with new contacts, organizational fairs, promoting Fall Getaway- it can be easy to forget the heart behind Cru: lost students meeting Jesus.  We were reminded of the hurt, hopelessness, fear, anger, sadness, confusion, and loneliness several weeks ago when we saw a young female student wearing this T-shirt.  This is why we return– every semester– to the college campus. This is why we raise our own financial support.  This is why we stay up late to eat cheap wings at BWWs with students.  This is why we think strategically and creatively about ways to reach students with the Gospel.  Students are hurting and seeking out solutions that only bring death. Jesus heals and gives life.
